Eldersburg resident Allison Nicole Creutzer, 20 a volunteer Carroll County firefighter with the Reese Volunteer Fire Company has been arrested in connection to a string of fires over the last year in the Eldersburg and Liberty Reservoir area, according to the state's fire marshal.

Specifically, Creutzer was charged with intentionally setting fire to grass, brush, and woodland, three counts of second-degree malicious burning, and one misdemeanor count of calling in a false report of a fire.

She was arrested on Saturday night by members of the Baltimore Environmental Police, who were assisting the investigation.

In March 2023, officials say that an investigation was launched into a series of intentionally-set wood fires that were ultimately linked back to Creutzer, which consisted of leaves, trees, and foliage.

Similar fires were also reported on May 14 and June 8 last year.

Investigators also connected another incident to Creutzer after she made a 911 call reporting smoke in the area of Route 32 and Liberty Reservoir bridge on May 8.

At the time the fires were set, Creutzer was a member of the Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department, though she never renewed her membership that year before joining the Reese Volunteer Fire Company, which she was still a part of at the time of her arrest over the weekend.

"I want to make clear that this one person's alleged actions in no way reflect upon the thousands of dedicated career and volunteer firefighters who serve our communities—especially our volunteers who give of themselves and their time to serve Maryland," acting State Fire Marshal Jason Mowbray said in a statement.

"I'm disappointed, but the alleged actions of one should not disparage the work and sacrifices of those who serve."

Creutzer was released on a $10,000 personal bond after making her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
